When we opened Mrs Pete’s Shed in 2018, Peter and I had one clear goal – to create a space where women could find great quality fashion, get honest advice, and leave feeling confident.

After 40 years in the fashion industry as a buyer and wholesale agent, I’d seen it all – the trends that come and go, the pieces that last, and the difference the right outfit can make to someone’s confidence. Before this, I ran Meshea Lifestyle – my first store, named after our two daughters – for 10 years. When we moved to the Southern Highlands, I knew I wanted to create something fresh that reflected my own style and experience.

Running your own business is the biggest learning curve there is. You learn to adapt quickly, listen closely to your customers, and make decisions with both your head and your gut. I’ve learnt that success isn’t just about what you sell – it’s about the relationships you build and the trust you earn.

One of the best parts of this journey has been the feedback we get from customers:

"Thank-you so much for the beautiful blouse which arrived safely. It looks gorgeous on. Thank-you also very much for the two lovely scarves, wash bag and tips. It was extremely kind of you and completely unexpected." Mary

"Just received my vest and the way you package is something on another level. Beautiful! Love all your new range for this cooler weather." Pam

"Just got home to my gorgeous order. Everything is perfect 10/10. Love, love, love the tips!  Thank you for always helping on instagram. it's so hard to find little shops where owners still have so much love for what they do." Alysia

We now welcome customers both in our Bowral store and online, and for those making a weekend of it, we also run Saint Eloi Guest House – a cosy retreat here in the Highlands.

From day one, Mrs Pete’s Shed has been about more than clothes – it’s about helping women feel good in what they wear and confident in who they are. And that’s what keeps me loving what I do.
